ALL-STYLES MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION

The All-Styles Martial Arts Association (A.S.M.A.A.) has now been launched.              We officially started the new association on the 1st of August2010.
ASMAA is the next stage forward in the growth of the SDF which will operate as before, but from now on as PART of ASMAA.
ASMAA will prove to be the FOREMOST multi-styles body in the UK.

How will this new association work, and what about the SDF are two questions I have been asked recently. Rest assured the SDF is not going away at all, but will be incorporated into the new association.

Over the last 10 years the SDF has changed slightly from its original concept, which was to promote realistic self-defence methods to its members. However almost by default we have become a multi styles organisation. Yet we haven't made full use of this membership. Many 'would-be' potential new members were 'put off' by believing that they wouldn't be able to progress in their current or main system/style. It became quite obvious that we needed to expand into a genuine and legitimate all-styles organisation, So we have formed A.S.M.A.A.

The association will be truly all styles including traditional, eclectic, modern etc etc. There will be DIVISIONS and within each Division there will be SECTIONS. Each division will have a divisional head, and a set of grading officers. There will be a NEW WEBSITE, which I have to thank 3rd Dan TKD & CEMPA Head Mark Richardson for,(I have already bought the domain name) new licences, new bank account etc. The SDF will be one of the many DIVISIONS, and basically will run as the SDF just as it has done, but as PART of a larger organisation.

As far as CURRENT SDF members are concerned, they will have a couple of choices to suit. Given that over 80% of SDF membership are those people who do NOT practice the SDF system as their main art. they will be ideal candidates for ASMAA. SDF members whose club is primarily SDF will get a DUAL membership. When their SDF Licences are due for renewal, they will get the renewal SDF Slip AND the new ASMAA licence all for the same fee. NEW ASMAA members who wish to have the SDF licence as well will be able to request it on the application form, again at no extra charge. However because one of the divisions in ASMAA will be the SDF Division new members will not really NEED both licences.

We have a massive array of highly skilled and highly graded instructors in EVERY style you can think of who are already SDF members, and frankly we have made little use of many of them. By being a genuine all-styles organisation, these instructors will have a better platform to us either talents from. We already have some of the BEST KNOWN and BIGGEST names in the UK's Martial Arts. The potential for the ASMAA to become the most prestigious, honest and complete martial arts organisation in this country is just waiting to be tapped.

As stated there will be a complete information pack heading the way of every Rep, Club Head, Instructor etc in the coming few short weeks, so information is being kept to a minimum on here. However listed below are examples of the Divisons & Sections we will be having in the ASMAA, and some of the highly talented people we have within them. Please note this is NOT a complete list of instructors we have in the SDF but just a few examples to show that you can train,progress and grade in every style you can think of.

Self-Defence & Self Protection Division: Dave Turton 9th Dan, Karl BLackwell 6th Dan etc. Kickboxing Divisions, both Thai Style and Freestyle with several 6th Dans. Korean Division, both ITF & WTF Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, Hapkido with 6th and 7th Dans. Japanese Division: Karate (9th Dan and several 5th & 6th Dans) .. Ju-Jitsu, 9th, 8th 7th & 6th Dans. Kempo Ju-JItsu 5th Dans. Grappling: Top MMA Coaches and Instructors. Wrestling Masters, Combat Grappling masters. Modern Eclectic, to include styles like Krav Maga, Systema and 'personal' styles like Andy Crittendens MSMA, Mark Richardson's CEMPA, Tony Bell's Nyojitsu combat, Jamie Parkinson's MSMAS, Steve Hallam's CMAS and many others as well.
